Journey to Bethlehem

Catholic Church Fort Assiniboine Fort Assiniboine, Alberta

2018 marks the 20th year of Journey to Bethlehem in Fort Assiniboine. Can you help us celebrate this milestone?

This dramatic inter-active pageant takes the viewer for a Journey to Bethlehem on the night Jesus was born. A guide leads them from scene to scene, while actors in period costume act out the events of that momentous night. Along the way, they meet and talk with beggars, Roman soldiers, tax collectors, angels, wise men and many others. They experience the disappointment of being told there is no room in the inn. And they meet the baby, born in a manger, who is the long awaited Messiah.

This dramatic re-enactment of the first Christmas takes place on Saturday, November 17 and Sunday, November 18 AND Saturday, November 24 and Sunday, November 25. Guided tours head outdoors for the journey from the Catholic Church in Fort Assiniboine, every 5-8 minutes from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The tours end with refreshments at the Friendship Centre. Admission is FREE! Everyone is invited to come on a “Journey to Bethlehem”.

The Fort Assiniboine and Friends Christian Community produce an inter-active presentation of the birth of Christ. Fort Assiniboine’s Walsh Park is transformed into Bethlehem with about 200 volunteers working to make it a memorable re-telling of the first Christmas. Admission is free but donations are gratefully accepted. Everyone is welcome!
