Holmes Crossing Ecological Reserve

This park area contains various hiking and horseback riding trails, as well as snowmobile access in the winter. Located 8 km southwest of Fort Assiniboine, visitors will experience naturally occurring vegetated transverse sand dunes, dominated by jack pine.

This short (one kilometer round trip) walking trail takes you in to the Hard Luck Canyon viewpoint and back.

Located along the north shore of the Athabasca River, the Sandhills Wildland Park is a great place to experience a diverse number of landscapes, from river flats to dunes to forest.

Center of Alberta

Journey to the Geographical Center of Alberta! Travel approximately 10 km North from Fort Assiniboine on Hwy 33 (Grizzly Trail). Watch for an information kiosk along the highway. A 5 kilometer hike will take you to the Geographical Center of Alberta.
