Motocross, sometimes designated as MX, is often used as shorthand for off road or ATV riding in Alberta. There’s a myriad of trails dotted throughout Wild Alberta and thankfully, off road riding is an inclusive, family friendly sport that is doable well into the fall. With that in mind, here’s a few spots we’ve highlighted for your trail ripping pleasure.
Memorably shortened to BUMP, you can find this park right in Barrhead. Catering to different styles of motorsports tracks and featuring over 40 kilometres of trails, BUMP is great for those looking to get their feet wet in off road riding or for experts looking to sharpen up their skills.
For seven years, Rocky Top ATV has shown themselves gifted at providing a relaxing home away from home. Right off Cross Lake, Long Island Lake and Forfar Park in the Jarvie area, this park/campground boasts some daring trails for the experienced. If you’re looking for a break from trailblazing, you don’t have to look far – the golf course is just a ride away.
If you’re interested in an easy introduction and getting your feet dirty in the world of motorcross, look no further. This Onoway race facility offers a race school open to all ages, featuring pro instructors and drawing huge numbers. Aside from their great race school, expect to see vintage bikes and team races – plenty of them, in fact.
